Embodying Extraction: Petrolithium in Dialogue

Panel and Screening

Wine and Lithium, a corporation for future scenarios founded by five artists, invites you to a cross-sectoral panel and a film screening!

Lithium, the symbol of the energy transition, is dormant in the primordial oceans of Lower Austria, Central Europe’s largest oil field. How would we approach the extraction of petrolithium from oil wells, with its ambiguous face of a petroleum legacy and a green future? How may we connect with the subsurface and its unknown and untouched hidden world?

Our guest speakers Lucy Crane and Martina Ruhsam will present two ends of the spectrum: sustainable development through minimally invasive methods in the mining industry on the one hand, and the performative arts’ approach to a more ecological practice on the other. The Wine and Lithium team will share their perspectives on sensing the earth and open the discussion with the question: can healing processes and interactions be tapped in the Anthropocene?

Expand the realm of speculation with us. Immerse yourself in the fiction of reality and become part of an embodied transformation. Cordial invite!
