trackings is a compelling performance about travelling, searching, remembering, imagining, and trying to locate “home” in a foreign city - what makes “a home”, is it a mental state or a physical place, memories attached to material objects and events, or perhaps all of these? Basing on mundane experiences as a foreigner living in London and a fleeting encounter with a mysterious street singer Natalie, trackings interweaves autobiography and fiction, reality that could be fiction and fiction that could be reality.
trackings is informed by the concept “flâneur”, the “stroller” who walks the city in order to experience it. It highlights the subjective and partly imaginary nature of all experiences, observations and judgements: my accounts of events are always partial and open to contestation from someone else’s perspective. In which ways could trackings relate to your perspective and your history?
trackings premiered in London in 2009 as part of the MA(y) Festival and has also been seen in Helsinki and Espoo, Finland. In LABfactory, it will be followed by a performance demo trackings WIEN and a discussion with the artist.
Joonas Lahtinen has studied Performance at Queen Mary College, University of London and Theatre Research at the University of Helsinki.

trackings ist ein Stück über das Leben als Immigrant in einer unbekannten Stadt: Was bedeutet ,,Heimat” und welche Rolle spielen Erinnerungen, Vorstellungen, Begegnungen und alltägliche Erfahrungen, wenn man die neue Umgebung kennenlernt? ,,trackings” ist ein Stück über Fiktion und Realität, es beinhaltet autobiographische Elemente und Fiktion gleichermaßen. Es wird gezeigt wie alle Erfahrungen, Beobachtungen und Urteile subjektiv und bis zu einem gewissen Grad imaginativ sind. Es hängt von der jeweiligen Perspektive und der persönlichen Geschichte ab.
In Anschluss an trackings folgt trackings-WIEN im Dialog mit dem Künstler und dem Publikum.
