Anita Schmidt & Kristina Kulakova
  1. November 2022
    7 pm - 11pm

The path of change through transformation is never linear and comes in a spiral. What might feel like a resolution, an end to a struggle, will most naturally become the same obstacle that has just changed its form and shape. If you are oblivious to it, you might get stuck forever. Once you have awakened to the idea and become aware of the patterns, an opportunity to change emerges.

Kristina Kulakova and Anita Schmid have had mind-expanding experiences in other cultures and have thus found access to sources of inspiration that remain closed to many.

The pastel crayon paintings of Anita manifest in the form of geometric cuts, an instinctive choice of colors that gradually reach saturation, hard and soft contrasts, sinuous and sharp shapes. Each of them shows a state of consciousness, an incessant, wild process of transformation that is underway in every present moment.
Kristina’s delicate balance between the sculptural elements in her photography gives a glimpse into her life experiences: flowing through mindful arrangements with a hint of coherent coincidences and unexpected pairings.

Their artistic vocabulary is, therefore, recognizable and, at the same time, unique. Each of their work has something almost transcendental. They start where the logical mind stops and the unconscious begins. Inner landscapes are given form, like portals that have always been there. One only has to remember.
