transition int. queer & minorities film festival

vienna’s queer & minorities film festival is back again - for it’s very LAST edition!
This will be our LAST festival edition, with the upcoming festival transition will come to an end. Which is quite sad. At the same time we would like to tell you that this will be quite a reason to celebrate, because we will be in the 10th edition of the festival, which means a lot of surprises, retrospectives and fun is planned.

join us therefore in this november’s HYBRID festival edition, where we’ll screen a carefully curated selection of features and documentaries, depicting a wide variety of sexual orientations, identities, and body norms to showcase and celebrate QUEER MINORITIES & QUEER FOLX - just be curious!

GEMMEL & TIM - OPENING FILM
DIRECTOR: MICHIEL THOMAS

The award-winning documentary „Gemmel & Tim“ highlights the lives and sudden deaths of Gemmel Moore and Timothy Dean, two black men who died of meth overdoses in the apartment of West Hollywood politician Ed Buck. Their deaths were a shock to the LGBTQIA+ community, but even greater was the ensuing media frenzy that fueled homophobic and racial prejudice. After years of ignoring and forgetting the victims, the film finally lets the extended and chosen families have their say, working with memories and objects that trace Gemmel and Tim’s lives. It is an intimate portrait of two men whose story should not be forgotten.
