Raisa Maudit: After a Vampire Manifesto

Opening: 8. Oktober 2021, 5-9pm

The Vampire Manifesto is a multiple artwork resulting from a research and production carried out by artist Raisa Maudit between 2016 and 2021. The Vampire Manifesto develops the idea of Vampirism as systemic resistance that redefines the idea of The Vampire, performing it in all aspects possible. It is an installation of installations carried out as an exercise of strength: thinking and being a vampire, creating from five different artistic disciplines that lead to an exhibition that is a vampire itself. Everything that happens in it , happens inside and outside of a film, inside a sound installation, a performance, inside 40 minutes of musical composition, costume design, dozens of sculptures, scenography, a novel, twenty years of dissociated memories or twenty million years of resistance within an exhibition that asks the viewer to change the speed of the absorption time of its content. It is a cave of blood and revenge, in which a statement is shown: We are Vampires.

Multiple references gather from the French Theater of Terror, the superorganisms and neuroparasites that attack the environment but help it survive, archaeological studies, the appropriation of the idea of the vampire as “vileness” by thinkers, theorists and economists from Marx to Mark Fisher, to quick and slow allusions to the history of cinema and literature, to reconstruction of moments in History that are rewritten ending with the (his)tory of the invaders of bodies and lands under the code of revenge fantasies and volcanic cracks, or to Pierrot’s fag Fantaterror in Barcelona.

The exhibition “After The Vampire Manifesto” brings to Vienna some of those artworks, procedural artpieces, and also new productions that add a new layer to this piece of operistic character that intertwines playing with theory-fiction and scenography. Each and every one of the elements, art pieces and installations are connected to each other and are mentioned among themselves, proposing a loop from which one does not want to escape of but which can be enjoyed regardless of the depth to which the viewer wants to reach. Let’s enjoy our revenge. Lets destroy a corrupted world.
