Moving Forward In Reverse Time With drawkcaB Compass

Group show at Improper Walls gallery, Vienna, Austria
Opening evening: 12th of August, 2020 7 -10 PM
Exhibition duration: 13th - 29th of August, 2020

As a part of QUESTION ME & ANSWER initiative, artists Joanna Zabielska, Cat Jimenez and Milos Vucicevic have been invited by Improper Walls curators to collaborate on an art show.

Their Moving Forward In Reverse Time With Backward Compass installation represents the unity of three artistic practices (methods, approach and process of creating).

While dealing with the social and spatial issues and transformation of the objects, also objects of ‘‘mass-production’’, involving a performative approach as an interactive part in itself, and creating a forest atmosphere, the idea behind is closely related to a migrant situation but as well as the situation of being somewhere else, and transforming the gallery space into elsewhere space, or somewhere space.

In its physical presentation, the artwork questions the definition of polarity and the perception of time. And although it is aiming to decentralize our geographical positions and alienate the viewer from the defined perceptions, this xenorealistic interaction in space is primarily a conversation about east and west points of view, the demystification of a subject coming from other countries and experience of living in the west, through the forms of a newly created constraints due to COVID-19.
