I Did Not Come From the Woods
is a selection of films shot during the last 15 years.
If a Super 8 cartridge lasts three minutes
– the duration of a song –
then a dozen of films screening
is nothing but a short concert or an ephemeral record.
A concert or a record wrapped in silence – of course.
It is the silence in the woods before night falls, the noise.

Constantinos Hadzinikolaous filmisches Werk besteht vorwiegend aus Super-8-Stummfilmen, die jeweils nicht länger als drei Minuten dauern. Darüber hinaus hat er zwei Gedichtbände und einen Roman geschrieben. „Hadzinikolaous Herangehensweise ist poetisch – oder antipoetisch, wie er selbst meint. Sie ist auch politisch oder besser: zufällig politisch, denn für ihn wird ein Text umso heftiger und politscher, je poetischer (das heißt präziser) er ist“ (Katerina Tselou). Seine neueste Arbeit ist der 15-minütige Kurzfilm Henrieta & Ivan (2019). Hadzinikolaou bereitet derzeit eine Dokumentation über die Geschichte einer griechischen Rock-’n’-Roll-Band vor und arbeitet an seinem nächsten Roman.
