La Biennale di Venezia Research Pavilion Opening Week

The University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki) is happy to invite you to celebrate the opening of the Research Pavilion and its inaugural exhibition You Gotta Say Yes to Another Access.

The opening week kicks off with a party Wed 10 May at 6pm with a word from the Finnish Minister of Education Sanni Grahn-Laasonen. The evening?s programme also includes music by Rinneradio and performances by artists of the inaugural exhibition.

The opening week continues with the Pavilion’s inaugural exhibition, as well as a series of cross-artistic events (Camino Events) that are organised by Uniarts Helsinki and its partners. The exhibition, You Gotta Say Yes to Another Access, is a Nordic collaboration, and presents a multiplicity of interpretations and approaches to the Pavilion’s overall theme the Utopia of Access from artists doing research in northern Europe. It is open 11 May - 2 July.

Research Pavilion: Utopia of Access 11 May - 15 October 2017

The Research Pavilion hosts three international exhibitions and nearly 50 cross-artistic Camino Events by artists from European art universities. Under the title The Utopia of Access, the Research Pavilion wants to give room for a variety of artistic interpretations and viewpoints involving access-oriented thought, in particular by connecting it with aesthetic, scientific and political perspectives.

Screenings, music, seminars, artist talks, performances and interventions from over 100 artists and artistic-researchers from art universities of Europe.

The Research Pavilion is created and hosted by Uniarts Helsinki, and realized together with the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme (NARP) and the Swedish Art Universities? collaboration KONSTEX, in co-operation with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Zurich University of the Arts.
