ÖGFA_Vortrag: Specific Histories

ÖGFA_Schwerpunkt ?50 Jahre Diskurs? Teil 2: Ökologie und Bestand:
Socialist architecture as a resource for new public domains

Dinko Peracic, Zagreb

Platforma 9,81 is a collective of architects and designers with offices in Split and Zagreb. Its members engage both collaboratively and independently in the critical rethinking and debate of urban planning and public space. They interact with the built environment in their respective professional practices, but also through their involvement in the organization of interdisciplinary platforms dedicated to the discussion and research of economic and cultural shifts that become tangible through architectural transformations.

One major focus of their activity is the growth of Croatia?s tourism industry. Platforma 9,81 examines the precarious balance between the environment and its inhabitants, as well as between private and public space in coastal areas. A case in point is the former holiday center in Krvavica for children with special needs. The members of the collective wrote numerous articles and put on exhibitions to call the public?s attention to the underappreciated 1980s building. Text: ÖGFA
