Ardan Ozmenoglu-Laundromat
Medium: Mixed Media on Post - it Notes

Ardan Özmeno?lu (also written Ozmenoglu) is a versatile Turkish contemporary artist who works in a wide range of mediums including large-scale glass sculptures, works on Post-It® notes, photography and neon lighting. The way to comprehend Ardan Ozmenoglu‘s art primarily goes through „living and experiencing“. Her art is easily accessible, even for an ordinary person; it invites you to see, watch and feel contemporary approaches to history.

Everything that is written, drawn, spoken, produced and done. In short, this is art that necessitates the affirmation of life and calls for active participation. Furthermore, she plays with the history of printmaking and modifies codes, a technique which Andy Warhol introduced to the art world years ago. Spectacle and her identity as a female print- maker from Turkey are important terms for her way of creating art.

Besides her work as a sculptor, Ardan Ozmenoglu takes simple materials from daily life - Post-It® Notes - and transforms them into a unique kind of artwork using her special technique. Through this action, boundaries are reversed and it becomes easier for the viewer to enter the exhibition space. She plays with the surrounding space and implicates the results of her research in her work.

The laundromat installation was first shown at Bertrand Delacroix Gallery NYC, in 2012.
