Die Vernunft stellt nach Blake die äußere Begrenzung der Energie dar. Wenn sie von ihrem Zentrum, der Imagination , losgelöst ist, wird sie zu einer stanisch verhüllenden Macht. Der saturnische Schöpfergott Urizen erzeugt das”tumbe Runde” (Ulro), der “umzrirkelten Käfig oder das übertünchte Imaginationsgewölbe des gefrorenen Himmels”, in dem der Mensch “im Zirkel seines irdischen Lebens ( … ) herumläuft”

Die Erde ist für uns Maler immer noch eine Scheibe, obwohl wir es besser wissen, aber wir haben immer diese Horizontale im Bild, die definiert wie gesehen wird (Die postulierte Unterschiedlichkeit der Gesichtshälften der Mona Lisa liegt zb darin begründet, dass die Landschaft im Hintergrund links einen tieferen Horizont hat. Das verändert das Gesicht)
Ein Bild ohne Horizont ist seltsam abstrakt und lässt den Betrachter in seinem Standpunkt undefiniert.

As a figure, Urizen, the god of the Deists, the far away one.Saturnlike.The founder and inventor of everything that’s as it should be.That’s why he is so boring.There is nothing exciting in beauty.But on the other hand,beauty is so brutal,so graceless.Like the horizon.And even if you try to avoid it,painting itself always forces you to the boring old fart horizon.Even if you try hard,to paint ugly,any beauty seeps through the material.Like a pest.So it’s hard to try to paint against the horizon.But it’s worth it.Cause by trying, I experience this world so truly.A fight between ectasy and certainty.Flyingand falling.Sucked by earth.And where you meet the ground, yes, there my friendis the brutality of this linethat divides the sky from the ground.(Gaia and kronos, so to say.)(Max Boehme 2008)
