#Body Memory #Experimental Music #Field Recordings

The new collaboration of dancer Maartje Pasman and musician Stefan Voglsinger merges experimental music with contemporary dance and performance.

In Touching Grounds they examine the intersection of movement and sound, utilizing recordings and personal observations from their field trips around the world. Their trans-medial improvisations aim to explore the relationship between kinesthetic memory and auditory perception. Body memory and field recordings feed the process of their artistic research. Stefan captures sounds and transmissions in the radio frequency spectrum and mixes them live with electronics and electro-acoustic elements that merge to hypnotic textures. He preserves the natural timbre of places and creates live transitions that form the imaginary timeline of Touching Grounds. Maartje strongly relates to her surroundings and architecture of the venues, following her intuition. Her trance-like state of performance enables her to be fed by the sounds that trigger memories of places she has experienced. Their side specific project developed as immersive live performances, mesmerizing installations in public space as well as long durational pieces through extensive touring in Europe and Asia.
